  • Organized August 31, 1850 - Incorporated 1855

  • 153 Acres - 21 acres conveyed to Everett leaving Woodlawn 132 acres

  • Private nonsectarian, not for profit corporation full service cemetery

  • Henry Weld Fuller was the Treasurer / General Agent from 1850 - 1889 and primary developer of the cemetery

  • Chapel was dedicated in September of 1911 - Rededicated 1998

  • Architect was Loring and Phipps of Boston, Stained glass windows by Horace J. Phipps & Co. and builders were T. Wilson & son

  • First burial - Augustus F. Bowen on July 1, 1851

  • Five Congressional Medal of Honor recipients interred at Woodlawn
